Event: Sexuality and Age

SEXUALITY AND AGE
University of Huddersfield
22nd June 2012

This Critical Sexology seminar will focus on the neglected topic of sexualities and age. Throughout their lives, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people have often found themselves at the intersections of gender, class, and racial disadvantage. Yet little is known about how intersectional power dynamics shape and limit the opportunities available to them at different life stages. Ageing is a diverse experience influenced by socio-cultural and historical factors, but sexuality is often ignored within current theories and research on ageing. Seminar Room 4 - Ground Floor of the Harold Wilson Building (HWG/04) on Queensgate Campus. A map can be found at: http://www.hud.ac.uk/aboutus/findus/ People should park in the Market Hall Car Park.
