Erotic Awards 2010

Yes the big golden cock is back. As I said to a colleague who had been nominated in a previous year, "it is a fabulous prize", although I suspect most universities would shy away from a publicity photo. Shame. Anyway, no I'm not still drunk on new year festivities, the reason for my babbling is that the Erotic Awards are looking for nominations for 2010. The annual event helps raise funds for the wonderful charity Outsiders.

Nominations are now open on the Erotic Awards website and you have to send through your nominations by the end of January. Categories include artist, blog, campaigner, club, and many more. There issued to be an 'academic' category but that seems to have vanished off the list this year. Winners are selected by a fabulously named Grand Jury of Conspicuous Sensuality consisting of:

Obviously, many of you will be assuming I'm fishing for a nomination and you'd be right that I would be thrilled to be nominated. The only problem with that is I've not done anything to be nominated for and I know there are people out there who do warrant nomination. My fabulous Sunderland colleague, Clarissa Smith with her work on violent pornography springs to mind. I hope you'll nominate these fabulous people. Get to it!
